Trump’s Media Venture Applied for H-1B Visa Despite Prior Criticism

Despite Donald Trump’s vocal criticism of the H-1B visa program, his media and technology company, which launched Truth Social, sought approval for a business visa under the same program. The company, headed by former House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes, applied for the visa in June 2022, opting for the lowest salary category allowed. While Trump had denounced the program as detrimental to American workers, his company’s actions highlight a contradiction between his political stance and business practices. The application, submitted during prior management, was terminated upon discovery by current leadership in November 2022. This move, juxtaposed against Trump’s historical use of H-1B visas for his enterprises, underscores the complexities surrounding immigration policies within the realm of business and politics.
