USCIS has announced to conduct the second H1B lottery for fiscal year 2024. This is a great relief for beneficiaries and petitioners who were hopeful for a second H1B lottery to take place.
In March 2023, USCIS conducted an initial round of the H1B lottery for FY 2024, including beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption. Only those chosen in this selection process were eligible to file for the complete H-1B visa petitions. The application period for the selected individuals was from April 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023.
USCIS stated that they felt the need to select additional registrations to reach the H1B caps for FY 2024. The governing body will soon select additional registrations from previously submitted H1B registrations through a random selection process. Once done with the second H1B lottery selection process and notifying the prospective petitioners, USCIS will announce to file for complete H1B visa petitions for those beneficiaries listed in the H1B registration.
Individuals who were chosen in the registration process will see their myUSCIS accounts updated with a selection notice. This notice will provide information about when and where they should file their applications.
