Registration for the 2025 Diversity Visa Lottery Opens on October 4th

For the fiscal year 2025, the U.S. Department of State is offering 55,000 green cards to foreign citizens through the Diversity Visa program. Starting on Wednesday, October 4, at noon EDT, the State Department will begin accepting online applications, with the deadline set for November 7, noon EDT.

The Diversity Visa program provides an opportunity for individuals from countries that typically have lower immigration rates to the United States to obtain a green card. Notably, citizens from the following countries are ineligible to apply for the 2024 lottery: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Venezuela, and Vietnam.

To avoid potential website delays due to high demand, the State Department advises applicants to submit their applications early in the registration period. Additionally, it’s important to note that only one submission per person is allowed.
