USCIS Reaches H-2B Cap for First Half of Fiscal Year 2025
USCIS has reached the H-2B visa cap for the first half of fiscal year 2025. No new H-2B petitions will be accepted for employment before April 1, 2025. However, certain petitions are exempt from the cap, such as those for current H-2B workers, fish roe workers, and workers in the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.
The H-2B program enables U.S. businesses to hire temporary foreign workers for nonagricultural jobs, capped at 66,000 visas annually. The allotment splits into 33,000 visas for each half of the fiscal year, with unused visas from the first half carrying over to the second half.
