USCIS Completes FY 2025 H-1B Cap Initial Registration Selection Process

USCIS Completes FY 2025 H-1B Cap Initial Registration Selection Process

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has concluded the initial registration selection process for the fiscal year (FY) 2025 H-1B cap, including the advanced degree exemption. Sufficient electronic registrations were received to meet the numerical allocations, and USCIS has randomly selected registrations for eligible beneficiaries. Prospective petitioners with selected beneficiaries are notified to file H-1B cap-subject petitions.

Registrants can check their online accounts for the status of their registrations, which may indicate whether they have been selected to file an H-1B cap petition. The filing period for selected beneficiaries begins on April 1, 2024. USCIS reminds petitioners to file their petitions properly at the correct filing location or online and within the designated filing window indicated on the selection notice.

Furthermore, USCIS highlights changes in filing procedures, including the transition to filing H-1B Form I-129 petitions at lockbox locations starting April 1, 2024. USCIS emphasizes the discontinuation of prepaid mailers for H-1B and H-1B1 filings, with notifications now being sent electronically or through traditional mail.

Additionally, USCIS addresses potential delays in receipt notices for filed petitions, advising petitioners not to submit multiple petitions for the same beneficiary if there is a delay in receiving the Form I-797 confirmation.
